About This Module

Organize your tasks in a focused todo list with priority levels, due dates, and completion tracking. ToDo List keeps everything in your browser so you can manage your workload without signing up for anything.

What Is ToDo List?

ToDo List is a free, browser-based task manager that helps you capture, organize, and complete your daily tasks. It requires no account creation, no app installation, and no cloud sync. Each task can be assigned a priority level and an optional due date. Filter between all, active, or completed tasks to focus on what matters right now. A running counter shows remaining and completed items at a glance. All data is stored locally in your browser, so your tasks persist between visits and remain completely private.

How It Works

Type a task description in the input field, select a priority level, optionally set a due date, and click Add. Your task appears in the list immediately. Click the checkbox next to any task to mark it as complete. Use the filter buttons to switch between viewing all tasks, only active ones, or only completed items. The Mark All Done button checks off everything at once, while Clear Completed removes finished tasks from the list. If you need a fresh start, Remove All deletes every item. Tasks are saved automatically in your browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do my tasks save between browser sessions?

Yes. The ToDo List tool automatically saves your tasks to your browser's localStorage, which persists between visits to the same browser on the same device. Your tasks will still be there when you close the browser and return later, as long as you use the same browser and have not cleared your browser data. This means tasks created in Chrome will not be visible in Firefox or on a different device — each browser maintains its own separate localStorage. If you clear your browser's cookies and site data, or use private or incognito browsing mode, tasks will not persist between sessions because incognito mode does not retain localStorage after the window is closed. For accessing your tasks across multiple devices, consider using the Online Notepad tool (also on this site) which supports manual save-and-copy workflows for cross-device sharing.

How do I organize tasks by project or category?

The ToDo List uses a single flat list with priority levels and due dates as the primary organizational tools. To create a project-based structure within a single list, adopt a consistent naming convention for your tasks. Prefix project-related tasks with a short project code — for example, "WEBSITE: Update contact page" and "WEBSITE: Fix mobile menu" — so tasks from the same project group together visually when scanning the list. Use the priority field to differentiate your most important tasks from background work, and set due dates on any task with a firm deadline. For complex projects with many tasks and dependencies, the Sticky Notes tool provides a visual board layout where you can spatially group tasks by project using color coding, which complements the structured list approach of the ToDo List for planning and brainstorming phases.

Is my task data private when using this tool?

Yes. All tasks created in the ToDo List are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage on your local device. No task content, priority levels, due dates, or completion status is transmitted to Popupnote.com's servers or stored anywhere outside your browser. The tool operates fully client-side using JavaScript. Your task list is never synced to a cloud service, shared with any third party, or accessible to anyone other than those with physical access to your device. If you want to completely remove the stored data, clear your browser's site data for Popupnote.com in your browser settings.
