This free Business Model Canvas tool lets you build a one-page model around value propositions, channels, customer segments, and revenue streams. It runs entirely in your browser with no login required, making it the fastest way to visualize how your business creates, delivers, and captures value.
A Business Model Canvas is a strategic management template originally developed by Alexander Osterwalder. It condenses the essential components of a business into nine building blocks displayed on a single page: Key Partners, Key Activities, Key Resources, Value Propositions, Customer Relationships, Channels, Customer Segments, Cost Structure, and Revenue Streams. The canvas format encourages quick iteration and collaborative brainstorming, helping teams test assumptions before committing resources to a full business plan.
Enter your company or product name and an optional subject line to label the canvas. The tool provides structured fields for each of the nine canvas blocks. Fill in your insights for every section, and a live preview assembles your canvas into a clean, readable document. When you are satisfied, copy the draft to your clipboard or download it as a text file. Hit Reset at any time to start a fresh canvas from scratch.
The nine blocks are: (1) Customer Segments — the specific groups of people or organizations your business serves; (2) Value Propositions — the bundle of products or services that create value for each customer segment; (3) Channels — how you communicate with and deliver value to your customer segments; (4) Customer Relationships — the type of relationship you establish with each customer segment; (5) Revenue Streams — how the business generates cash from each customer segment; (6) Key Resources — the most important assets required to make the model work; (7) Key Activities — the most important things the company must do to deliver its value proposition; (8) Key Partners — the network of suppliers and partners that make the model work; and (9) Cost Structure — the most significant costs incurred while operating under this business model. Filling in all nine blocks creates a coherent, interconnected picture of how your business works.
A Business Model Canvas is a one-page visual framework designed for rapid iteration and collaborative discussion. It captures the essence of a business model in nine blocks, making it easy to test assumptions, spot gaps, and explore alternatives quickly. A business plan is a much longer, more detailed document — typically 15 to 30 pages — that includes narrative descriptions, financial projections, market research, operational plans, and supporting data. The Canvas is best used in the early ideation and validation stage, while the business plan is required for formal purposes such as bank loan applications, investor due diligence, and government grant submissions. Many founders start with the Canvas to clarify their thinking, then expand it into a full business plan once the model is validated.
