Type directly in cells, print instantly, and export as an XLSX file.
Enter data into a clean grid, print it directly from the browser, or export it as an XLSX file compatible with Excel and Google Sheets. Simple Spreadsheet gives you a lightweight alternative to full office suites without requiring any installation.
Simple Spreadsheet is a free, browser-based cell editor that provides a familiar grid interface for organizing data. It requires no login, no downloads, and no subscription. Click any cell to start entering text, numbers, or labels. Your work is auto-saved to the browser so nothing is lost if you close the tab. When you need to share or archive your data, export the entire grid as an XLSX file that opens directly in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or any compatible spreadsheet application. You can also print the grid with clean formatting.
Open the tool and you will see an empty grid ready for input. Click on any cell and type your data. Navigate between cells using your mouse or keyboard. The grid auto-saves as you type so your progress is always preserved. Use the Save as XLSX button to download the spreadsheet in a format compatible with all major office applications. Click Print to produce a clean, formatted printout of the current grid. If you want to start over, the Clear All button resets every cell in the grid at once.
Yes. The Simple Spreadsheet auto-saves your cell data to the browser's localStorage as you type, so your work persists if you close the tab and return later on the same browser and device. Data will not be available in a different browser or on a different device because localStorage is specific to the browser instance. If you clear your browser's site data or use an incognito window, the data will not persist between sessions. For reliable preservation across devices or browsers, use the Save as XLSX button to download a copy of your spreadsheet to your local file system after every session.
Yes. The XLSX format is the standard format for Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and is supported by virtually all modern spreadsheet applications. Google Sheets imports XLSX files directly — use File → Import in Google Sheets and select your downloaded file. LibreOffice Calc, Apple Numbers, and other applications also support XLSX import without issues. The export preserves cell content as text and numbers. Formatting styles, formulas, or merged cells are not included in the export because this tool is a basic data entry grid rather than a formula-capable spreadsheet engine.
No. The Simple Spreadsheet is a data entry and organization tool rather than a formula-capable spreadsheet engine. It does not support Excel-style formulas like SUM or AVERAGE directly in cells. To perform calculations, enter your raw data here, export it as XLSX, and open it in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets where full formula support is available. For quick arithmetic before exporting, use the Scientific Calculator tool on this site alongside the spreadsheet to verify totals. The spreadsheet is designed for speed and simplicity — entering and organizing plain data without the setup complexity of a full office application.
