February 29 birth dates are handled correctly — if your birthday falls on February 29 and the current year is not a leap year, the calculator uses February 28 as the reference for your annual birthday. Multiplying your age in years by 365 ignores leap years and produces an inaccurate total day count. The actual number of days in a year alternates between 365 and 366 in a regular 4-year pattern (with minor adjustments for century years). Over a lifetime, this adds up to a meaningful difference. For example, a 30-year-old will have lived through approximately 7 to 8 leap years, meaning the accurate day count is 30 × 365 plus those 7 to 8 extra days.
