The Hydration Tracker displays 8 clickable SVG water droplets. Each tap fills a droplet to represent one glass of water consumed. Progress persists in local storage and resets automatically each day.
Staying adequately hydrated supports nearly every function in the human body. Water helps regulate body temperature, lubricates joints, transports nutrients, and flushes out waste products. Even mild dehydration — losing just 1 to 2 percent of your body's water — can impair concentration, increase feelings of fatigue, and reduce physical endurance. Most adults need between 6 and 8 glasses of water per day under normal conditions, though activity level, climate, and individual health factors all influence the actual requirement. Using a visual tracker is one of the simplest and most effective ways to build a consistent daily hydration habit without relying on memory or guesswork.
The tracker shows 8 water droplet icons arranged in a row. Each droplet represents one glass of water, roughly 250 ml or 8 fluid ounces. Tap or click a droplet to fill it and mark that glass as consumed. The filled droplets are stored in your browser's local storage so your progress is maintained if you switch tabs or briefly close the browser. At midnight, the tracker automatically resets to zero so you begin each new day with a fresh count. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no data sent to any server.
Eight glasses is a common general guideline, but individual needs vary based on body size, activity level, climate, and health conditions. Athletes, people working outdoors in hot weather, and those who are pregnant or breastfeeding typically need more. People in cool climates with sedentary lifestyles may need slightly less. Use the 8-glass target as a starting point and adjust based on how you feel and what your healthcare provider recommends.
While plain water is the ideal hydration source, other beverages such as herbal tea, diluted juice, and foods with high water content (cucumbers, watermelon, soups) also contribute to your daily fluid intake. However, caffeinated and alcoholic beverages have a mild diuretic effect that partially offsets their fluid contribution. For tracking purposes, count glasses of plain water to ensure you are meeting a clear, consistent baseline independent of other beverages consumed during the day.
No. Your current day's droplet count is saved in your browser's local storage, which persists across tab switches and browser restarts as long as you do not manually clear your browser's site data. The tracker resets automatically each day at midnight, so your count always reflects glasses consumed today. If you use multiple devices, note that local storage is device-specific — progress on your phone does not carry over to your desktop browser.
